Description

((Edit 1/17/16: YUHHHH REVAMP IS DONEEEE :icontuzkiflailplz:

Old and basic af app: sta.sh/01ueho7qhv5u
The bio is more or less from the most common story of Kannon/Kwan Yin/etc but with my twist on it of course~ I still think it's pretty cool that I get to make my OC based off of her since I admire her a lot and not just because I'm Buddhist. c: ))

Type of God: Kannon (Goddess of Mercy)

Name as a God: Kashiiya
Age: Older than you :iconyaomemeplz:
Height: 4'9" or 145 cm (without her heels)
Status: Minor God
Shinki owned: Cutie bab Horiyu by :icondrysky:

Personality: |Compassionate|Attentive|Sassy|Silly|Friendly|Generous|Keen|Curious|

Kashiiya is literally the embodiment of compassion, which is why she is called the goddess of mercy. She will never turn her back on people who need to be heard and consoled. She was given the name "Kannon" by the Japanese because it meant "watchful listening" or "one who sees / hears all".

Although Kashiiya is kind, she can be sassy and even silly if she's comfortable around you. She'll more or less treat you like a friend. Don't anger her unless you want to die early... Sometimes she's too generous for her own good, especially when it comes to charities and organizations; however that doesn't mean she's gullible. Since she is one who sees and hears all, she will know if you're lying or scamming her. That being said, the goddess never turns a blind eye to sales and bargains... She also has a sense of curiosity, and because of that, she's pretty much always up for anything...which gets her into trouble. OTZ

History:

Kashiiya wanted to live a life where it wasn't dictated by a cruel, drunk father (basic af but keep reading ;; 7 ;; ). All he wanted to do was marry her off to a wealthy man he knew so he could be rich, and pay off his debts to some loan sharks. He never thought about his daughter's feelings as a result from her mother running away a month or two after giving birth to Kashiiya. Since then, she had been living with only two feelings exposed to her; loneliness and hate.

One day as her father passed out from drinking a stolen gourd of wine, she snuck out to a Buddhist temple where she was taught about the religion from benevolent monks. This new experience instantly formed a deep connection between her and Buddhism. She managed to become a nun after convincing her father, with a word from one of the higher monks. But knowing her father, he believed that his daughter would come crawling back if she was put through intense labor. To put this in action, he bribed some monks to make her work day in and day out until she broke. But while Kashiiya lived her tough life in the temple, she grew to become more tolerant, believing that good things will come to those who are patient and kind. Her compassionate aura grew along with her tolerance, attracting nearby animals that eventually helped with her chores (Snow White or nah? LOL). At that point, the bribed monks couldn't bring themselves to torture her anymore. When her father snuck in and saw this, he was furious. Enraged and impatient, he later set the temple on fire (you suck, Dad). It was clear that his daughter was never coming home, so he might as well get rid of her...and not in a discrete way because he also relied on the monks who obviously didn't work her hard enough.

Kashiiya helplessly watched her beloved temple go up in flames. Was there really nothing that she could do? In that moment, the young nun ran and tried to put out the fire with her bare hands. Surprisingly enough, her skin wasn't charred! (Awww yiss, foreshadowing~) Unfortunately she was only able to save half of the temple. But even so, the surviving monks and nuns expressed their gratitude and glorified her and her mysterious ability. Her father feared this power and managed to hire an assassin to kill her in her sleep (wtf, Dad). The remaining monks discovered her dead body the next day and grieved. They prayed that she would transform into a greater being in the next life because of her selflessness and kindness. Not long after, their prayers were heard and Kashiiya turned into a goddess.
Surprised and overfilled with joy in the afterlife, the new immortal took her first steps on her way to paradise. But then she stopped. What was that sound that distracted her? Kashiiya looked back and noticed the cries and screams of the humans on Earth. Heavy tears rolled down her cheeks. Was she really going to paradise and leave everyone behind? No. It wasn't right. It just wasn't right. She gathered her newly acquired robes and started to descend back to the human world. "I'm sorry," she announced to the deities waiting for her. "There's still one more thing that I have to do." When all suffering is gone and all of the humans are saved, that's when she'll ascend to Nirvana; to her heaven.

Kashiiya had been given many names throughout the centuries ever since she decided to stay back, but mainly around the Eastern region because that's where she was needed the most. In India, she was called Avalokitêśvara. The goddess spent quite a while there, which would make people assume that the region was her birthplace. She had trouble knowing the differences between the genders of the people and their clothing (afterlife was like nah, you don't need a gender strict mentality), and ended up wearing male clothes because they were more comfortable as she worked. This made her patrons see and worship her as a male figure. As long as she was remembered, Kashiiya didn't let the gender judging situation bother her. It was only around the first few centuries that she started to get a hang of wearing feminine clothes (they looked cuter in her opinion but pants were still a thing for her) after a couple of years debuting in China, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, etc. There, they called her Kuan/Kwan Yin, Kwan um, Quan Thế Âm Bồ Tát, Kannon, etc. She tended to those who were suffering, helping them relieve their pains and taught them forgiveness. This made it easier for them to peacefully go on to the next life.

Not a day goes by that Kashiiya didn't devote herself to the humans as she was once human herself. Later on, the goddess decided to have one place where she could always go back to after working instead of having temporary resting areas wherever she was. That one place was Japan where she fell in love with the people and the culture. There, she received the name "Kannon", with love from her patrons. Of course, some gods and spirits still call her by her true name, Kashiiya. Now, the goddess of mercy likes to lie low so she can save her energy for those who need her.

Additional information:

She's been here for so long that Earthly languages are a breeze for her. If she's not working, she's a part time translator somewhere in the world. @ u @

She also knows how to sew, so if you need tailoring or a cosplay outfit, she got chu.

Along with being able to see and hear humans suffering, she is able to transport to their aid in a blink of an eye. She also has the ability to transform into 33 variations (disguises??? cosplay?? HUE) of herself which came from meeting the various needs of her worshipers; however, she will only transform if the situation calls for it (this is extremely rare, so she barely uses it nowadays).

Being almost as old as Buddhism itself, Kashiiya had spent her time gathering knowledge about everything, and she still does.

Children have blankets or stuffed animals that help them feel calm and safe. Kashiiya has a slender vase, and in it lives a lotus flower that never dies. This is her comfort item whenever she's at home.

If Kashiiya isn't working, she's on the Internet looking up anything and everything that interests her. If she's not surfing the web or blogging, then she's learning dance covers for fun. The best ones are usually uploaded on Nico Nico Douga and Youtube. You'll always see her wearing some kind of disguise for her covers (ranges from kigurumi covering her face to wigs and masks). If she's gonna be here for a long time, she might as well enjoy herself LOL
